Reflections by the River

A visit to an art exhibition sparked something in me in 2012. It was the Radiance - Neo-Impressionists exhibition at National Gallery of Victoria, also known as NGV in Melbourne. I was intrigued by the colours and how the images were represented and interpreted by the artists. These images are not as real and sharp as compare to other classical paintings. At that time I wondered if there's anything called the impressionist photography. A few clicks on the internet lead me to some beautiful photos. And a few more clicks lead to a book by Eva Polak that teaches some techniques. I soon explored and played around with the techniques and created some photos where you can view by clicking here

As I was going through some photos I took in Melaka, I soon discovered a few more photos look near river look very abstract and some resemble some characteristics of an impressionist painting.

I want to share these images with you.

I waited for a boat to go pass the area in order to distort the reflections. The distortion was chaotic that you can't really recognise the original painting on the wall.

ChaosThere's beauty in chaos if you learn to see that.

This one, on the other hand, was less chaotic in which you can actually recognise the original artwork on the wall.

The upside down Chinese characters means "peach garden", it has another meaning - paradise. Wonder I should flip the image? What do you think?

This is my personal favourite. It soothes me when I look at this image.

This has slow becoming my other favourite, as it resembles some impressionist characteristics I wanted to achieve.
