With the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival approaching on 25 September, it feels like a fitting time to revisit Encore — Light, Movement, Memory.
The festival is often associated with the moon, light and gathering — ideas that resonate with the themes running through these photographs. Light changes how we see a familiar place, while layers of movement and time can turn a moment into a memory.
I won’t be at the exhibition that weekend, but the photographs will be there — continuing their quiet conversation with light, movement and Melbourne.

I’m pleased to announce my upcoming exhibition, Encore — Light, Movement, Memory, at The Vault, Photo Barn in Blackburn, running from now until December 2026.
Encore brings together works from Whispers in the Neons with pieces from my earlier Melbourne MX project — an ongoing exploration of multiple exposure and the possibilities of seeing Melbourne through overlapping moments.
All of the works were photographed in Melbourne, where architecture, people, light and movement come together in layers, transforming familiar city scenes into something more atmospheric and impressionistic.
The title Encore reflects more than simply bringing earlier work back into the gallery. It is an opportunity to revisit these images from a different point in my photographic journey, and to see how my way of looking at Melbourne has evolved — while the fascination with light, movement and fleeting moments remains.
